Go Big Give day of giving draws closer

Residents of Hamilton, Hall, Howard and Merrick counties are once again being invited to support area nonprofit organizations during this year’s Go Big Give campaign. The four-county fundraiser began June 22, with a newly extended period of pre-give, culminating with a day of giving July 7.

Minimal changes keep landmark looking young Since initially being built in September of 1895 the Hamilton County Courthouse, in all its splendor and prominence, has undergone a number of historical changes.

City planning to open pool July 11

Preparations have begun to open the Aurora swimming pool on Saturday, July 11. The Aurora City Council discussed the matter during a committee meeting before the June 23 council meeting, announcing its tentative plan to open both the pool in Streeter Want loc Park and the splash pad in Cole Park.

Winds rip through area

Winds raged west of Aurora Sunday morning, tearing through cornfields, trampolines, pivots and even farmsteads in the area of 12th and K roads. Upon further inspection properties owned by Aaron Oswald, Mike Oswald and Clint Mickey sustained the brunt of the damage.

Last week’s shift to Phase 2 safety protocols opened the doors for bars in Hamilton County, with owners and patrons alike excited to be able to get together and relax with their favorite beverage.

CDHD reflects optimism, concern with COVID battle

The Aurora City Council agreed last week to support the Central District Health Department’s efforts in its on-going coronavirus battle after hearing a detailed report from its executive director, who cautioned that the COVID pandemic is far from over.
