The night sky lit up Saturday with the Aurora Chamber of Commerce’s annual fireworks display. This year’s event drew a crowd of cars that filled much of the fairgrounds, though spectators were not allowed in the grandstands due to social distancing concerns.

Past Aurora courthouse stands tall

This old courthouse in Hamilton County was photographed in 1878 with 11 men and one woman standing in front. A child was on the second floor looking out of a window. This building would ultimately end up burning down in 1894.

Gas leak closes down rural intersection

Aurora’s first response team was called out to a burst gas pipe near the intersection of South S and 12 Roads around noon on June 24.
Brandy Johnson, community affairs manager with Black Hills Energy, reported that a four-inch main was damaged during a construction project.
