AHS starting up scholarship nights for seniors Aurora High School’s counseling office staff is now holding weekly scholarship nights for seniors. Every Tuesday night through the end of February, the office will be open for any senior seeking assistance.

Edging close to 100, 98-year-old Ramer Fassnacht weaves hot pad holders in a variety of colorful and distinctive patterns, to pass the time. In an added bonus, Fassnacht’s three daughters have joined his cause, selling his creations in the last year since he’s mastered his craft.

The welcoming warmth of a home-cooked meal is something universally cherished and it’s served up frequently through the Hamilton County Senior Center.  Welcoming in the new year, staff at the senior center report steady participation in their Meals on Wheels, drive-thru delivery and in-person meals.

Hamilton County residents have given $290 and hundreds of coats for the Oglala Lakota (Sioux) tribe at the Pine Ridge Reservation located at the border of Nebraska and South Dakota over New Years’ weekend, according to coat drive organizer and nonprofit president Jon Ruybalid.
