Mother Nature threw everything it could at those competing at the Broken Bow Invite Friday.  The temperatures dipped around 40 and below, the wind howled at upwards of 30 mph and the rain came off and on throughout the event.

Huskies win home golf triangular

In a bit more of a lighter pace, the Husky golf team competed in a home triangular with Grand Island Northwest and Hastings St. Cecilia at Poco Creek March 31.  Aurora’s varsity team was joined by its JV squad and a few others as nearly half of its team got a taste of high school competition.

Huskies score shutout win at Columbus Lakeview

Coming off a loss earlier in the week, the Aurora boys soccer team answered the bell.  The Huskies dropped a 3-0 contest to area rival Grand Island Northwest in its first home game March 30, but bounced back for a 5-0 win at Columbus Lakeview Thursday.

A couple Aurora athletes pushed themselves onto the all-time list to start the 2021 outdoor season.  The Huskies were in action at the highly-competitive Norris Invite Thursday with some of Class B’s best in action.

Asher hired as Husky boys basketball coach

Kevin Asher has accepted the boys basketball head coaching position at Aurora High School, the school announced Thursday.  Asher coached at Wood River during the 2020-21 season and has also spent time at Elm Creek, Norfolk Catholic, Millard West, Pender and Hastings St. Cecilia.

Huskies finish 3rd at Seward Invite

For the first time in nearly two years, the Aurora golf team was on the course in varsity play.  The Husky golfers started the 2021 season at the Seward Invite Friday, finishing third as a team with a five-some that lacked varsity experience.

Allen talks leadership, team bonding ahead of spring ball

It doesn’t feel like that long ago when Austin Allen was just trying to not get in the way while making sure everything he did was to a T.  Now, his biggest goal is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum.

Brooke Bannister had a dream, ever since she was a young girl, to play volleyball at the college level.  With every swing on the outside, other people figured that out, too. Now, she has a college home playing the game she loves.

Emily Erickson never really considered participating in sports at the college level was a possibility for her and she was okay with that.  That was until the perfect opportunity presented itself. Now, she’s a Wildcat.

When Jaylee Schuster ran through her mind what her next step of education would be, all options were on the table.  There were several in-state schools that not only wanted her to come be apart of their program, but that draw was across multiple sports, from volleyball to basketball and even track.
