Aurora girls end season with district loss at Hastings

The Aurora girls soccer team saw its season come to an end Saturday morning.The Lady Huskies had a couple opportunities late, but couldn’t get the equalizer as Hastings held on for a 1-0 win to open up B-3 district play at Hastings College.

I ended up missing the moment an Aurora hometown kid was drafted to the NFL because I was already occupied watching another Husky hero making threes in the NBA playoffs. I cannot believe I wrote that and have no idea how that’s real life.

Jordyn Slagle has officially gone where no other Lady Husky has gone before.The Aurora senior blazed a single lap at Monday’s frigid Central Nebraska Track Championships in Grand Island, setting a new school record time of 57.75 that was more than fast enough to win the 400 meter dash.

It was only a matter of time for Jayden Slagle and all of the pieces fell together Thursday in Grand Island.The Husky senior broke the Aurora school triple jump record during the Grand Island Northwest Dave Gee Invite, leaping to a new statewide best mark of 48-2.

Aurora’s Jordyn Slagle made a big jump up the Husky all-time list Thursday in Gothenburg.On a sun-splashed, windy afternoon, Slagle won the 400 meter dash during Thursday’s Dutch Zorn Invite, doing so in a new personal best time of 59.11, the first time she’s ran sub-60 in a Husky uniform.
