Steve Wishart, 71, of Aurora, passed away October 30, 2020 at CHI-St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Steve’s wishes were to be cremated and requested that no services be held.  Memorials may be to the family to be designated at a later date. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Steven Dean Wishart, the son of Haldean and Genese (Ahlstrom) Wishart was born at Superior, on June 14, 1949 and passed away at Grand Island, on October 30, 2020 at the age of 71.
Steve grew up in Hebron and graduated from Hebron High School in 1967.  Steve was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve in the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged on April 26, 1971 and continued to serve in the Reserves until 1975.  Steve returned to live in Central City and worked at the Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island.  He moved to Aurora in 1976, going to work at BonnaVilla, Nash Finch Co. and then drove a truck for OTI Trucking before retiring.
Steve was united in marriage to Vicki Schank on July 13, 1970 at Hampton.  They had two children: Brian and Kristi.
Steve was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.  He followed Husker football and basketball.  Steve liked to mow and keep their lawn looking nice.  Steve loved following all his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law, Ray and Jean Schank.
Steve will be missed by his wife, Vicki of Aurora; son, Brian (Bethany) Wishart of Arvada, Colorado; daughter, Kristi (Kirk) Bruns of Springview; 6 grandchildren, Brianna, Shaely and Phoebe Wishart, Kara (Nolan) Sybrant, Paige Bruns and Ben Bruns and great-granddaughter, Landri Sybrant.  He is also survived by his brother, Alan (Cheryl) Wishart of Aurora, sister, Julie Veik of Norfolk and other family members and friends to cherish his memory.
