Kathy McConnell

Kathy McConnell, age 79, of Aurora, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Memorial Community Care. 
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 23 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Aurora. Pastor Tim Wells will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials may be made in care of the family to designate at a later date. Kathy Lee McConnell, the daughter of Arnold and Naomi (Adams) Mick, was born at Aurora, on March 2, 1947, and passed away in Aurora, on September 18, 2026, at the age of 79.
Kathy grew up in Hamilton County. She attended Henderson Community School and Hampton Public School. Kathy worked in various restaurants in Hamilton and York Counties.
On November 20, 1994, Kathy married Walter McConnell at St. Peter Lutheran Church at Hampton. During their marriage they lived in Hillsborough County, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia before returning to Aurora. Walter passed away on January 22, 2016.
Kathy was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton and then Cross of Christ Church in Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; brother, Robert Mick; three sisters, Carmen Chandler,   Sharon Wrightson and Marilyn Wolff and   brother-in-law, Roy Pokorny.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her daughter, Pamela (John) Lerch of Sioux City, IA; granddaughter, Amber Bailey of Sioux City, IA; 4 sisters, Regina Mick of Aurora, Lori (Fred) Hofmann of Sutton, Bonnie (Vince) Henzel of Lincoln and Sandra Pokorny of Katy, TX; brother, Thomas Mick; brothers-in-law, Tom Wrightson of Callo, Virginia and Gearld Wolff of Caldwell, ID and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
