Coats Obituary
Jackie Coats, age 94, of Giltner, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 15 at Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Pastor Kathy Uldrich will officiate. Graveside service following at 2 p.m. in the Giltner Cemetery. Casual dress per Jackie’s request. Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Coats, the daughter of Irvin and Violet (Strawn) Osterman was born in Silver Creek, on February 7, 1930 and passed away in Aurora, on March 9, 2024 at the age of 94.
She grew up and graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1947.
Jackie married Duane D. Coats on June 25, 1949 at the Methodist Parsonage in Giltner. They were blessed with five children. Duane passed away on October 31, 2016.
Jackie was a farm wife and loving mother. She loved collecting antique dishes, fishing, gardening, canning and spending time on her front porch with family and friends. She always said, “there was room for one more at her table.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane; son, Wade Coats; grandson, Seth Coats and sister, Eceneith Shipley.
Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, Terry (Glenda) Coats of Giltner, Deb (Lin) Hoskins of Inland, Rhonda (Larry) Coats of San Angelo, Texas and Allan (Gayla) Coats of Giltner and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
