Edgar Tucker, age 77, of Aurora, passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020, at Lancaster Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln. 

A graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23 at the Aurora Cemetery. Pastor Bob Gannon will officiate. Current CDC guidelines will be followed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the family to designate at a later time.  Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

Edgar Lynn Tucker, the son of Melvin Edward and Alice Juanita (Huenefeld) Tucker, was born in Aurora, on May 13, 1943, and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Nov. 19, 2020, at the age of 77.

He grew up on the family farm southwest of Aurora. He graduated from Aurora High School. Edgar served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. After his active duty, Edgar remained in the Army Reserves until being honorably discharged on June 30, 1969. 

Edgar was Chief of Engineering for St. Joe’s Hospital in Phoenix for 23 years. He then was Superintendent at Joe E. Woods for three years and then General Contractor for Accessibility, Inc. until he retired. Edgar returned to Nebraska in 2003, to care for his parents.

Edgar was a very active member of the Lester S. Harter Post #42 Aurora American Legion, where he was a Past Commander and currently served as Chaplin. He was a current member of the Faith Community Church and had been a long-time member of the Assembly of God Church before it closed.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his two sons, Dean Tucker and Skip (Sherrie) Tucker both of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Brianna Schmaltz, Shaynna Burch, Christopher Burch and Chauntel Tucker; four great-grandchildren, Katelyne Schmaltz, Joey Schmaltz, Lucas Burch and Luna Burch. He is also survived by his sister, Gerri Fairchild of Grand Island and her children, David Solmon and Kristi Paulson and other family members and friends.
