Sherilyn Larson-Treptow

Sherilyn K. Larson-Treptow, age 86, formerly of Aurora, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Bryan/LGH West Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebr.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm., Saturday, April 5th at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation/luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m., just prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date.   Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Sherilyn Kay Larson-Treptow, the daughter of Lester and Wilma (Campbell) Shafer, was born Nov. 15, 1938 in Hastings, Nebr., and passed away in Lincoln, Nebr., on March 16, 2025, at the age of 86. 
Sherilyn’s childhood was in Guide Rock, Nebr.  She and her family moved to a farm outside of Hastings and she graduated from Trumbull High School in 1956.
Sherilyn was united in marriage to Warren Larson on May 31, 1957 in Hastings. Following their marriage, they resided in Aurora. Sherilyn worked at the Aurora Medical Clinic, and at the age of 41 she went back to school to become a nurse. She got her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kearney State College in 1985. She loved nursing, and worked at several Grand Island and Aurora retirement centers. Warren passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2007, just four days short of their 50th wedding anniversary. 
On June 7, 2008, Sherilyn married Dr. Kenneth Treptow. They enjoyed travel and time spent together with many family and friends. Ken passed away on July 4, 2019.
Sherilyn was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, and son-in-law, Randy Shackleton. 
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Douglas (Jane) Larson of Leawood, Kan.; two daughters, Rhonda (Greg) Harrelson of Overland Park, Kan., and Marjorie Shackleton (Randy Fisher) of Lincoln; Ken’s three sons, Dr. Warren (Angelica) Treptow of League City, Texas; Dr. Doug (Glennis) Treptow of Rogers, Ark.; and Dr. Craig (Dr. Robin) Treptow of Great Falls, Mont.; her brother, Kenneth Shafer, and her sister, Karen Givens Bloomfield Shafer. Sherilyn was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
