Matthew James McGuire, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln.
Matt was born June 4, 1968 in Hayward, California to Brian and Shirley McGuire. The McGuires grew their family in Pleasanton, California where Matt graduated from high school. After high school he moved to Kansas, then Nebraska to pursue his dream of owning a restaurant.
In 1988, he and his business partners opened Tree Tops Cafe in Aurora. Matt owned Tree Tops for 15 years, during which time he met and married Sharlene Crabtree. They started their family in Aurora and in 2003, sold the cafe and moved to Stockton, California.
Matt began his new career with Zurier Company and loyally devoted himself to his company, coworkers and customers.

Outside of work, Matt was passionate about family, cooking, sports and music. Matt was a faithful follower of God. He served as a youth group leader, worship team member and on several missions trips. He will be remembered for his steadfast love for his family and unwavering faith in Jesus. A favorite verse Matt had is Ephesians 2:8-9. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Matt will be deeply missed by his wife of 30 years, Sharlene; his sons, Quinn, Parker (Holly), and Logan; his parents, Brian and Shirley McGuire; his brothers, Kevin (Leigh) and Nathan (Sarah), and their children. Matt’s loving heart and quick wit will forever be cherished by many extended family members and friends.
