Hamilton Community Foundation celebrates Spirit of Philanthropy

Hamilton County celebrated its “Spirit of Philanthropy” Thursday with a feel-good event which honored several key contributors for the roles they played in helping foster and support a culture of giving through the Hamilton Community Foundation (HCF).

An Aurora-based construction/fabrication business that has been building things for area clients since the 1980s is now expanding its operations with a new 20,000 sq. ft. facility just off Highway 34.

Tying all of the symbolism of Veterans Day and the program at Aurora High School together, five  area veterans were presented with their very own Quilt of Valor Monday, courtesy of the Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild and the Hamilton Community Foundation.

Two killed in Monday crash north of Aurora

The Nebraska State Patrol is assisting in the investigation of a collision between a pickup and a semi on Monday that took the lives of two occupants of the pickup. Hamilton County Sheriff Jeromy McCoy reports the crash occurred at about 3 p.m.

Tuesday a bad day here for most write-in candidates

While most write-in candidates did poorly in Tuesday's Hamilton County elections, a race between an incumbent and a challenger for Ward 2 Aurora City Council, where both were write-ins went to the challenger.

One-act team performs student-written play

For the first time in its history, the Aurora High School one-act play team will be performing a play written by a fellow student. The 45 members of the cast and crew gathered in the school’s theater last Tuesday evening for the dress rehearsal for “MAYOR!

The tour of duty was not what Sgt. Donald ‘Don’ Harvey, had envisioned when he was drafted into the military during the Vietnam War in 1966. Now at age 79 and with Veterans Day approaching, Harvey took time as to reflect on his two years of service in the U.S. Army. Only three years out of St.
