Hamilton County added 420 nonfarm jobs to the local payroll between 2009-19 with a majority of those coming in the private sector, though the manufacturing sector lost 59 total jobs over that same period.

A group of volunteers from Mars Petcare worked under the scrutinizing looks and constant yelling of the toughest bosses out there -- kittens. The team was out at Aurora Adopt-A-Pet Aug. 26 to lend a helping hand on the to-do list of projects and general maintenance that needed to be done.

On Monday, Governor Pete Ricketts held a ceremonial bill signing at American Legion Post 52 in Kearney to celebrate LB 153 becoming law. LB 153 exempts 50 percent of military retirement pay from Nebraska income tax. Senator Tom Brewer of Gordon introduced LB 153 at the request of Gov.
