A tradition of praising God and raising money for global relief efforts unfolded for the 45th year in Aurora this weekend, with officials announcing that 2024 is the final year the Mennonite Central Committee relief auction will be held at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds.

Giltner residents will decide May 14 if they want to approve a 1 percent municipal sales tax in Giltner, which was proposed by the village board as a means of generating revenue to help fund housing infrastructure.
Voters used to mailing in their ballots will notice there’s a new look to the official envelopes this year. The new manilla envelopes provided by the Secretary of State are smaller so the ballots must first be folded before inserting in the envelope.

A new digital program designed to streamline appointments launched last fall by Memorial Health Clinic (MHC) is fostering better communication between the clinic and its patients and has even had the effect of making patients more prompt in showing up for appointments.

A defense motion asking to move the Jeffrey Adams first-degree murder trial out of Hamilton County has been denied by the court. Adams, who is scheduled to stand trial in June for the premeditated murder of his wife, Angela in their Marquette home on Feb.

Bader Bridge repairs on target for summer

Extensive repairs on the Bader Bridge, which spans the Platte River near Chapman, could take place this summer following action by the Hamilton County Commission. On the Monday agenda was an interlocal agreement between Hamilton and Merrick counties prepared by Speece Lewis Engineering of Lincoln.
