For a third week in a row, Aurora proved once again to be the team to beat in Class C1, this time ending Ashland-Greenwood's 29-game regular season win streak.

Carlos Collazo rushed for 256 yards and four touchdowns in Aurora's 34-14 win over Boone Central.

The Class C1 No. 1 Aurora Huskies made another statement Friday night. Behind the efforts of Carlos Collazo, Aurora rushed past C1 No. 4 Boone Central 34-14 at home. Collazo tallied 256 yards on 17 attempts with four rushing scores while adding a reception TD.

The Friday night lights are back and the area put on one heck of a show to kick off the 2022 football season. The ANR's area teams went a combined 3-1 on opening night with Aurora, Giltner and Hampton all getting wins to start the year 1-0. Aurora, Class C1's No.

Aurora will compete in Class C-1 for the next NSAA two-year cycle.

The Nebraska Schools Activities Association released the 2022-2023 high school football schedules on Wednesday morning.

Aurora has earned the No. 2 seed for the Class B playoffs, opening with Lexington at home Friday night.

Aurora enters the Class B playoffs as hot as anyone, riding a seven-game win streak and playing its best football of the year. The Huskies (7-2) were rewarded the No. 2 seed in the Class B playoffs and will play No. 15 Lexington (4-5) at home Friday night.

Drake Schafer had three INTs for Hampton in a 49-7 win over Santee Thursday night.

Hampton had a lot of time to think about its season finale game with close to a three-hour road trip north Thursday night. It was a bit of a slow start but once the defense started clicking, the points were flowing.

All three area teams were in action at Saturday's start to the Crossroads Conference volleyball tournament in York. The most success of the three area teams came from No. 4 seeded High Plains, who defeated No. 13 McCool Junction in the opening round, 25-12 and 25-8.

Carsen Staehr recorded 7 receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown in Aurora's 41-27 win over GINW Friday night.

The High Plains scoreboard operator was busy Friday night as the Storm's 86 points highlighted the area's performance in week seven. The Storm won its third game this season in second in a row over Nebraska Lutheran 86-34 Friday, using eight total touchdowns from Javier Marino and Lane Urkoski.

Hampton's defense held a shutout through three-plus quarters in a 58-18 win over Heartland Lutheran.

Scoring points and a lot of them was big around the Hamilton County area as three of the four teams picked up wins Friday night. Aurora won its fourth game in a row on the season over McCook at home while Hampton and HPC each picked up road victories.
