Hordville VFD protects more than just the town

While the community of Hordville in northern Hamilton County has a population of just 137, the Hordville Volunteer Fire Department is responsible for fire protection for many square miles of crop and pasture land in the area, plus many newer homes situated on lakes near the Platte River.
