The second of four planned columbarium units was set into place last week at the Aurora Cemetery, doubling the capacity to house inurned cremated remains.

The village board of Phillips has chosen a successor to village clerk/treasurer Kathy Walker who will retire soon after more than 25 years on the job. At its June meeting on Tuesday the 3rd, the village board approved the hiring of long-time Phillips resident Dee Arnett to replace Walker.

The Giltner School Board welcomed new superintendent Matt Gordon at its June meeting on Monday. Gordon was present for the meeting and stated his excitement at coming on board for the upcoming school year.“It’s a great district,” Gordon said. “We’ve got great families, great kids, new staff coming.
Traffic cones and a construction trailer mark the north side of the courthouse parking lot which will be used to store equipment and materials during the exterior renovation of the building starting on June 16. The courthouse steps will be replaced first but the ground floor entrance will remain open throughout the project. The restrooms will also be accessible during A’ROR’N Days at the end of the month.
