Rotary collects 12,000 lbs of hazardous waste

Hamilton County has approximately 12,000 pounds of paint and hazardous materials less in area basements and garages after Saturday’s Aurora Rotary Club collection effort, which drew more than 150 people to the fairgrounds.

Giltner School budget up 14.4%

The Giltner Board of Education set the FY 2025-26 budget at its September meeting Sept. 17, a budget that represents a 14.4 percent increase in projected spending over the previous year. However, the district’s new superintendent, Matt Gordon, said he does not plan to spend the entire budget.

Modular tips over on Highway 14

Traffic was slowed for several hours at the intersection of highways 14 and 34 in Aurora Monday afternoon when half a modular home fell off its trailer just west of McDonalds. Police were called at 2:13 p.m. to deal with the situation.
