Hornets ride roller coaster in pair of contests

The Giltner boys basketball team had a great start to the season, but shooting woes have killed the momentum the team started with.  Those offensive struggles continued Dec. 9 as Nebraska Lutheran visited Giltner and left with a 49-27 win.

Hornets sweep Harvard Thursday

Both Hornet teams kicked off its 2022-23 seasons with huge starts, both defeating Harvard on the road Thursday.  The girls team shot the ball over 70 times on the night, picking up a 43-18 win while the boys team rolled to a 50-21 win.

HPC holds Giltner in check during early season contest

It was quite the debut for HPC’s freshmen.  The Lady Storm’s two leading scorers were playing in their first-ever high school basketball game and played well enough to carry HPC to a 41-29 win over area-rival Giltner in Polk Friday.

Giltner Public School on track to becoming Heart Safe

An 18-year-old student collapses on the floor near the restrooms at Giltner Public Schools at around 1:05 p.m. He is unresponsive, not breathing and has no heartbeat. School staff members have just seconds to respond while waiting for emergency services, first from Giltner and then Aurora.

Giltner fire department aids in crash scenarios

Giltner Fire Chief Brad Consbruck, alongside firefighter Derreck Eastman, were just two of many first responders who volunteered their time Nov. 1 to help train Nebraska State Patrol recruits in crash response scenarios.
