One of the best days Cauy Walters ever had on the golf course came in nearly unplayable conditions.
Walters won his first-ever high school event at the Adams Central Invite April 19 at Southern Hills Golf Course in Hastings, shooting an 86 through ferocious wind gusts and below average temperatures.
The winning effort for Walters was part of a winning team effort for the Huskies, taking top honors with a 370.
Aurora coach Craig Badura has said before on several occasions that winning a high school golf meet is one of the toughest things a high school athlete can accomplish. Aurora has had some success in that department in recent memory, but he said it doesn’t get old to see success like that.
“Winning a high school golf tournament is one of the hardest things to do,” Badura explained. “When you come out on top of a 60-80 player field, what a feeling. It’s great for Cauy, he’s put in a lot of time and effort into his game, especially the last two years."
