Connor Smith kept the Pinnacle Bank Seniors in the game while Camden Holliday ended up stealing it.
The Aurora Post 42 Pinnacle Bank Seniors team rallied to defeat Wood River 4-3 in walk-off fashion from Mitchell Field Thursday.
Smith was the star on the mound, throwing 7-2/3 innings on the mound, allowing two earned runs on four hits with 10 strikeouts, including 110 total pitches and 83 strikes.
Aurora coach Jeremy Burgener pointed out that Smith’s performance on the mound wasn’t a surprise at all given his locations and diversity of pitches thrown.
“Connor threw another great game and showed better command of the breaking ball during this start,” the coach said. “He is really good when he has command of two or more pitches.”
