Lois Hixson has always had a calculated approach to her coaching style. She was given the keys to a powerful vehicle and wanted to make sure when she moved on, it was in the same vein.
Following a 32-year coaching career, including 27 as a head coach and the last 16 at Aurora, Hixson is stepping away as a varsity volleyball coach.
While excited to see volleyball matches from a different perspective, Hixson also mentioned leaving the program in a good place.
“I definitely plan to enjoy the volleyball, too. It will be hard for me,” she said. “I have to stay out of the way and let them grow. They have seven seniors and an experienced group. That’s how I wanted to leave them so the expectation can go forward.”
Hixson’s career record stands at 517-265, including a 349-198 mark during her Aurora tenure.
