Lady Huskies end season with close loss to AC

Aurora girls basketball coach Kelly Boshart described the Lady Huskies’ season on the hardwood with two words -- tough and heart.
Tough because of the schedule, noting that her team was tough, too.
Yet, Aurora’s season came to an end Feb. 21 with a tough battle at Adams Central in the B-6 subdistrict, 54-45.
“Although the season didn’t end how we wanted it to, I think we can all agree that we got everything we could out of this group and we’re looking to come back next season and better ourselves again,” Boshart said.
The game was tooth and nail early as Adams Central struggled to get much breathing room, only up by one, 11-10, after the opening quarter.
The Lady Huskies continued to fight, trailing 25-19 at the half, still within striking distance.
Each team scored seven points in the third quarter while Aurora was just never able to cut into the gap in the fourth quarter to add any pressure to the Patriots.
It was one of the best games of the season for Denae Nachtigal, totaling 22 points on nine of 15 shooting while adding eight rebounds. Ellie Hutsell added 10, making both of Aurora’s three-point shots.
The Lady Huskies were 11 of 15 from the free throw line while totaling more assists than turnovers.
