The Lady Huskies showed their first-year head coach just how much this team has grown this season in the opening round of C1-7 subdistrict action, eeking out a close first-set win, coming from behind in the second set and closing out the sweep over David City to advance.
Coach Andrew Murillo was impressed with the way his team opened the postseason, saying he believes the Lady Huskies are peaking at just the right time.
“This team has grown so much and we’ve been on such a journey together,” an excited Murillo said after Monday night’s 26-24, 25-20, 25-18 win at Columbus Lakeview. “We had a lot of learning lessons this season, but we have hit our stride and I’m just so proud of these girls to find our system and the trust, that’s the most important thing. We’ve got to trust each other and that’s what we’ve been doing.”
