Friday night roundup week 2
Gage Friesen ran like he was mad at the grass Friday night.
The High Plains senior scored four rushing touchdowns as HPC defeated Palmer 51-8 in its home opener.
Friesen tallied more than 100 rushing yards for the second straight week with two of his touchdown rushes going for 40-plus yards.
High Plains is 2-0 to start the season, the first time since the 2016 campaign.
It wasn't as successful for the rest of the area teams as Aurora fell on the road at McCook while Giltner fell to Weeping Water in a road contest. Hampton had a bye week and will be at home next Friday against Harvard.
Aurora was held in check by McCook with 271 total yards and was shut out in the first half, trailing the Bison 27-0. The Huskies have another tough task next week, hosting Class C1 No. 1 Wahoo.
Listed are all area teams and the scores of those games with the winning team in bold:
Aurora @ McCook, 33-14
High Plains vs Palmer, 51-8
Giltner @ Weeping Water, 54-0
Hampton, BYE
