While one Husky athlete stole most of the headlines, a few other Aurora standouts had pretty solid afternoons in their own right.
Aurora’s Caden Carlson and Carsen Staehr each won gold medals at Monday’s Central Nebraska Track Championships hosted by GINW, an all-class event highlighted by the best of the best in the area.
Aurora coach Gordon Wilson couldn’t help but smile when talking about the efforts of Carlson and Staehr at Monday’s event.
Looking at Carlson, it’s a similar situation Wilson saw a year ago as the now Aurora senior builds momentum toward the second half of the season.
“It reminds me of last year with Caden,” Wilson noted. “He had a few bumps in the road and things just started to click. He’s already in the ball park of putting together a really good vault.”
Carlson continued his solid run in the pole vault, winning the event with a 14-03 mark. As for Staehr, the Husky junior was busy with multiple events, finishing first in the long jump, second in the triple and fifth in the 400 meter dash.
