Aurora’s Senior Night efforts featured a hot start and ferocious rally which came up a run short.
The Lady Huskies scored two runs in the seventh, but couldn’t make up the difference in a 6-5 loss to Columbus Lakeview at home Thursday on a brisk night for softball.
Aurora’s hot start came in the form of Eva Fahrnbruch’s two-run homer from the three-hole to start the bottom half of the first frame, taking a 2-0 lead.
After holding Lakeview to four batters in the second and third innings, the Vikings took the lead in the fourth as two runs scored on an Aurora error while the third came on an RBI single.
Lakeview added two runs in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead before Aurora made it a 5-3 score in the sixth off a Grace Howland RBI double to right field.
