The 31st edition of the annual Bill Kropp and Curly Penner Memorial Alumni Basketball Tournament is set for tipoff Saturday morning with the Class of 2002 still at the top of the mountain. 
The Class of 2002 has won the event 16 times, most recently taking down the Class of 2017 43-39 a year ago in the finals. 
A total of 15 teams are signed up for the annual basketball event with games tipping off early Saturday morning through Sunday’s 3 p.m. finals. 
The tournament is under the wing of John and Pat Miller with committee members Cody Hoegh, Joel Miller, Brandon Handrup, Zach High, Tyler Jensen, Wade Miller, Mitch Oswald, Brock Wyatt, Cole Ashby and Dustin Hahn. 
As the returning champs, the Class of 2002 has the lone opening-round bye of the tournament. 
The tournament kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with 2011 taking on 2012. The 9:30 a.m. slate includes 2021 taking on 2017 while 2007 battles 2013. 
The 10:30 a.m. slate includes 2018 taking on 2000/03/05 while 2019 plays 2008. 
The final opening round matchups at 11:30 a.m. include 2015 taking on 2016 while 2020 matches up with 2010. 
All games will be played in the Aurora Sports Complex split between two courts. Semifinal games Sunday start at 12 and 1 with the championship game at 3 p.m.
