The 30th edition of the annual Bill Kropp and Curly Penner Memorial Alumni Basketball Tournament is set for tipoff Saturday morning with the Class of 2002 still at the top of the mountain.
Last year’s tournament was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, but returns in 2021 with 13 teams set to play over the weekend.
Back in 2019, the Class of 2002 regained its throne with a win over the Class of 2007, doing so with a 57-29 final. The ‘02 class has now won 15 of the last 17 tournaments held.
A total of 13 teams will enter the Aurora Sports Complex starting Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with games on Sunday beginning at noon. The championship game Sunday is set for a 3 p.m. tip.
The tournament is under the wing of John and Pat Miller with committee members Cody Hoegh, Joel Miller, Brandon Handrup, Zach High, Tyler Jenesn, Wade Miller, Mitch Oswald and Brock Wyatt.
