A record-setting season has led to some postseason accolades for Austin Allen.

Allen was selected to the 1st team All-Big Ten by the media Wednesday and was also named the Big Ten tight end of the year. Allen set Nebraska tight end records for receptions in a season (38) as well as receiving yards (602).

The team captain from Aurora is Nebraska's first All-Big Ten first-team offensive player since Kenny Bell in 2014 and first all conference 1st team tight end since Matt Herian in 2003.

The former Husky declared for the NFL draft ahead of Nebraska's season finale against Iowa.

"I think now is the time. I have to try and take my shot. Yes, there are benefits to staying and getting bigger, faster, stronger. I think with how the season played out for me personally it is time to train and time to take my shot. That was the thought process behind it.”
