For the first time this spring, all three area teams converged at the same event.
High Plains’ rescheduled invite kicked off Saturday and went off without a hitch despite the loud wind gusts that never relented throughout the afternoon.
However, temperatures were manageable and the results showed.
A total of 10 of the 17 events on the boys side were won by area athletes from High Plains, Giltner and Hampton.
HPC finished second in the team race to Shelby-Rising City with Giltner juts a point behind in third and Hampton in sixth.
Giltner’s Jacob Smith won the shot put with a PR throw while HPC’s Lane Urkoski took gold in the discus with a new best throw.
HPC’s Trevor Carlstrom won both the long jump and 100 meter dash while teammate Gavin Morris was half an inch behind in the long jump for second, but ended up winning the 200 meter dash.
