Robert McNerney

Robert M. McNerney, 67, of Giltner passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Memorial service and celebration of Robert’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 20th, at Giltner Global Methodist Church.
There is a gathering of family and friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 19th, at All Faiths Funeral Home. The family has requested any guests at the visitation are welcome to wear apparel that brings back a memory of Robert.
Robert was born in Grand Island on July 9, 1958, the son of Maurice and Betty (Gimpel) McNerney. He received his education in Giltner, graduating with the class of ’76.
Robert married Joellen (Beckstead) Schmidt on July 25, 2010, blending their two families to become one.
Following graduation, Robert farmed for James Manion.  In 1986 he began working for Giltner Coop/CPI until he started with Nutrien Ag Solutions. Following his retirement, he enjoyed helping his neighbor, Steve Hosier, with the harvest.
An avid car fan, Robert was a past member of Platte Valley Cruisers. He loved cruising in his jeep finding new eating/drinking places, blaring his favorite Rock n Roll music. Robert loved his family and his pets. He made a point to attend his beloved grandkids functions and events.
Those who cherish his memory include his daughters, Laura (Joe) Happold and Karly McNerney; sisters, Kathy McNerney-Kohl and Liz Cornwell; grandchildren, Logan Ebbert and Mallory, Michael, Luke and Asher Happold; and special friend, Shannon Nocera.
He is also survived by a beloved nephew, Casey (Taylor) Cornwell; stepdaughter, Tina Hornbacher and her son Gage Meyers; numerous extended family and friends; and his feline friend, Koz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joellen “Jo”; his parents; and brother-in-law, Dusty Kohl.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
