Potter Obituary
Lorayne ‘Penny’ Potter, age, 94, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Westfield Quality Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 1 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora. Rev. Rudy Flores will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Lorayne C. Potter, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Coover) Krantz, was born at Sterling, on June 17, 1927, and passed away on January 26, 2022 at Aurora, at the age of 94.
She attended a small country school at Westerville, junior high at Alda and high school at Grand Island. Penny was a waitress for many years until she learned to be a restaurant chef. She worked for almost 14 years at the Hamilton Motor Inn.
On September 22, 1962, she was married to Clifford Potter, Jr. at Aberdeen, Washington. After returning to Aurora, Penny worked at Colonial Corner’s Assisted Living for 8 years and retired at the age of 79. Penny then spent time gardening, traveling and enjoying her family.
Penny loved her grandchildren and followed the school wrestling and was proud of her grandchildren in all of their endeavors. Her children were very important to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford; son, Larry Long; daughter, Mary Elizabeth and two brothers, Jack Krantz and Gary Krantz.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her children, Michelle (Bill) Sabata of Aurora, Cheryl (Walter) Bicknase of Aurora, Jack (Betty) Long of Tularosa, New Mexico and Lee (Kim) Caufield of Belton, Texas; 14 grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley) Caufield, Valerie Caufield and Robert, Jeremy (Kristine) Sabata, Joshua Sabata, Kelsey Sabata, Christopher (Beth) Bicknase, Kevin (Kim) Christiansen, Erika (Teryl) Whipple, Matthew (Caroline) Bicknase, Reese Bicknase, Bre Bicknase and Blake, Rebecca (Tydeus) Crouse, Zachary Waterman and Isabella Bicknase and 11 great-grandchildren, Lynlee Caufield, Kylie, Kati and Harley Caufield, Joseph and Ansley Sabata, AnnaBeth and Sawyer Bicknase, Teagan Carlin and Caylin and Ullr Bicknase. She is also survived by many other family members and friends.
