Lois Marie Jensen, the daughter of Almet K. and Arian M. (Peterson) Salman was born at Omaha, on August 21,1927 and passed away at Aurora, on January 29, 2026, at the age of 98.
She grew up in Omaha, spending the summer months on her grandparents’ farm north of Aurora.   Lois graduated from Central High School in 1944, with the intention of going into the Army Cadet Nursing Corps, but not being 18, she worked in the office of Union Pacific.   When 18 she persued the nursing career, until Maynard returned from the service.
Lois married Maynard W. Jensen on June 8, 1946, at Omaha. Four children were born to this union: David M., Andrew V., Gay L., and Clinton K. They resided on the family farm near Aurora until 1978 when they had a house built in Aurora for their retirement.
Lois was active in both her community and church including the VFW Auxiliary, Trail Blazer’s Youth Group, church choir and Women’s Groups as well as serving as secretary for the Aurora School Board of Education for many years.   Lois was the first woman to be elected to the school board.   She and a couple other women were the first to serve on a jury in Hamilton County.   She carried meals on wheels for many years.   Lois was a faithful blood donor giving 27 gallons.   She always joked that she would have given 30 gallons, if she wouldn’t have had four children.   Lois also made time to be on a bowling league and bridge club.   In later life, Lois enjoyed her time spent with family and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maynard on September 19, 1990; son, David M. Jensen; daughter-in-law Laura Jensen; granddaughter, Julie Thoendell; brother, Gary Salman; sister, Arian Redding and sisters-in-law, Grace Potter and Shirley Hansen.
Those left to cherish her memory are children: Andrew (Bonnie) Jensen of Aurora, Gay (John) May of Manhattan, Kansas, and Clinton Jensen of Aurora; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Jensen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Memorial Community Care for the care Lois received the last 8 years.
