Greg was born in Aurora, on October 22, 1951, to Don and Lois (Yonker) Schuster. He married Carol (Cadieux) on June 29, 1974, and together they were blessed with two children.
Greg grew up on the family farm south of Phillips. He attended Phillips Consolidated School through eighth grade and graduated from Aurora High School. He went on to attend the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, where he earned an associates degree in Agricultural Machinery Mechanics.

Following his military service, Greg returned home to work part-time with his father on the family farm while also working nights at Hansen International. Before long, he began farming full time—first operating a dairy farm and later managing a hog confinement operation. After a tornado went through the farm in 2019, Greg decided to retire.
Greg had a passion for stock car racing. He began as part of a pit crew with neighboring friends and later shared the driver’s seat with his son, Jason. He also enjoyed hunting, building and racing go-karts with his grandkids, spending time at the family cabin, fishing, flying remote control airplanes, playing pitch, and dancing.
Greg is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Schuster; his children, Jason Schuster of Madison, Wisconsin, and Kelly (Nate) Israelson of Aurora; and grandchildren Kaleb (Kaylee) Trumble, Hunter Trumble , and Jax Israelson.
