Donald Nunnenkamp

Body

Donald Dean Nunnenkamp, age 73, of Cotopaxi, Colorado, went home to be with The Lord on May 31, 2026. He was born December 24, 1952 to Eugene and Justina (Kliewer) Nunnenkamp of Aurora, where he spent his childhood. He worked hard helping his dad on the farm, earned some money to purchase a motorcycle so he could enjoy riding alongside his older brother and finding a little trouble every now and then; was also grateful for the opportunity to play football his senior year.
Don was united in marriage to Sharon (Monnier) March 31, 1972 and soon after moved to a farm near Benedict where they raised two children. He farmed for many years, raised pigs, and usually had a part-time job in the winter months to support his family. He attended as many of his kids’ activities as possible, enjoyed taking his family to the lake to boat and ski in the summer and would spend countless hours pulling the kids on sleds behind the 3-wheeler during the cold season. They had a team of draft horses and would participate in parades at many local community events.
When their children were grown, Don and Sharon moved to Montana for a short time before relocating to York, after grandchildren began to arrive. He and his wife had their own business, S&D Construction, and he also worked for Overland Construction. Don worked in construction many years before settling in the mountains of Colorado for the past 21 years, where he continued with construction for a time and then worked as a driver for the Amish.
Don loved to visit with people, learn new things and adventure to see new places. He was a very generous person, always helping others with his time and talents, and giving to those going through tough times. He had the most beautiful, genuine child-like faith. He never complained and usually had a quirky comment that would fill a room with laughter. Don was kind-hearted and always thought the best of people. He set a great example of trusting God, living life and loving people.
Donald is survived by his wife Sharon; 2 children: Tracy (Lori) Nunnenkamp, Stacy (Perry) Siebert; 6 grandchildren: Kasey (Lucas) Straub, Kurtis Siebert, Kori (Connor) Boehr, Emily Nunnenkamp, Zachary Nunnenkamp, Kaley Nunnenkamp; 4 siblings: Larry (Jane) Nunnenkamp, Beverly Johnson, Randy (Julie) Nunnenkamp, and Joann Wendt; 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
I have fought the good fight. I have kept the faith. I have finished my race.
