Arlo Friesen, age 79, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at CHI St. Elizabeth in Lincoln.  
A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9 at Monroe Evangelical Free Church near Phillips. Rev. Penny Schulz will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery at 1 p.m. Saturday following the lunch. No Visitation. Memorials may be made to the family. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Arlo G. Friesen, the son of Frank O. and Marie Mary (Goertzen) Friesen, was born in York County, on August 9, 1944 and passed away in Lincoln, on March 5, 2024, at the age of 79.
Arlo grew up in Hampton and attended Hampton Public schools.  
Arlo was united in marriage to Marlyn Kay Bailey on June 25, 1965 at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. After their marriage they lived in Chapman for a short time before moving to Aurora. Arlo worked on a farm and then for Aurora Co-Op for over 20 years until his retirement.   Marlyn passed away on February 20, 2016. 
Arlo enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and baking.   He received many purple ribbons at the Hamilton County Fair.   Arlo also enjoyed NASCAR and traveling domestically and abroad.   He especially liked spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Delmer Friesen.
Those left to cherish his memory are his four children, Melissa Friesen of Chandler, Arizona, Todd (Brenda) Friesen, Darren (Jessica) Friesen and Ryan (Teresa) Friesen, all of Grand Island; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   He is also survived by his brother Rendy (Verda) Friesen of Aurora, sister, Rogena (Gerald) Jantzen of Beatrice, sister-in-law Donita Friesen, many nieces, nephews, other family members and special friend, Marlene “Doris” Flodman and other close friends.
