Dale Hanquist, 95, of Hordville, died on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home with Cory Lenners officiating. Visitation will be held from Monday, March 23, 2026 from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be at Lindale Cemetery near Hordville.

Dale was born on March 2, 1931, near Hordville, to Harold and Anna (Erickson) Hanquist. He grew up and lived in the Hordville area all his life. Dale attended County School District 74 and finished his education at Hordville Public School.
On Oct. 29, 1950, Dale was united in marriage to Marcelyn Erickson. To this union five children were born, Loren who died at birth, Rodney, Gaylen, Myron and Laurie.
Dale and Marcelyn purchased their farm in 1953 and lived there for sixty-two years.
Dale, along with his wife and family, operated a Grade A Dairy Farm. He enjoyed being a farmer and even after retirement he still continued helping his sons. He was a member of the American Dairyman Association and received many awards for outstanding dairyman including the Silver Award. He served on the Lindale Cemetery board for many years. During his life, he played on a baseball team, enjoyed playing pool with friends and in his retirement years, he enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee twice a day at the Take 5.
His greatest joy was his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed attending football, basketball, volleyball and musical programs.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marcelyn; his sons, Rodney (Donna) Hanquist of Grand Island, Gaylen (Judy) Hanquist of Hordville, Myron (Rhonda) of Hordville; his daughter, Laurie (Bill) Bankson of Lincoln; his grandchildren, Jason (Kristi) Hanquist, Jenny (Garret) Plummer, Steve (Debbie) Hanquist, Jill (Cory) Lenners, Julie (Justin) Heider, Shawn (Amanda) Hanquist, Tracie (Justin) Solomon, Sarah (Todd) Linden, Ashley (Joel) Pierce; 25 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Johnson; sister in law, R’Lou Keyes and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Loren; brother, Gerald Hanquist; granddaughter, Erin Hanquist.
