Jacqueline Corby
Jacqueline Corby, age 81, formerly of Lincoln, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Legacy Square in Henderson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January, 31 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora. Rev. Rudy Flores will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Fairbury Cemetery at a later date. No Visitation. Memorials may be donated to the family to designate at a later date. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Jacqueline K. Corby, the daughter of Ira Edward and Twila Kathern (Ward) Corby was born on March 23, 1944, in Fairbury, and passed away on January 24, 2026, in Henderson, at the age of 81.
Jacqueline grew up in Fairbury and graduated from Scribner High School in 1962. She attended Cornerstone Beauty School in Fremont.
Jacqueline had a daughter, Tammy. She and her daughter returned to Fairbury in 1974. Jacqueline was baptized at First Baptist Church in 1977 and was active in the choir. She worked hard to provide for them at Kellwood and later Swingsters in Fairbury. She moved to Lincoln in 1990 to be closer to her daughter. Jacqueline worked as a cook at Lincoln General and then Bryan West until her retirement.
Jacqueline enjoyed old western movies, country music, Elvis Presley and Nebraska Cornhusker Football. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family. She attended St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Lincoln each week with her daughter and her family.
Jacqueline will be remembered for her love of animals, especially her dogs she would adopt from rescues.
Due to her declining health Jacqueline had been taken care of at Tabitha in Lincoln and then the Legacy Square in Henderson since 2014.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, John R. Corby and infant sister, Donna M. Corby.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tammy (George) Chaney of Aurora; grandson Keegan of Lincoln; and other family members and friends.
