Blake Wilde

Body

With great sadness, we share the passing of our incomparable husband, father and friend Blake Wilde. Blake died on January 22, 2026, surrounded by family and friends at his home in Lincoln, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Blake was born on April 6, 1963, in Murray, Utah, and spent a part of his childhood in Coalville, Utah. After the passing of his father in 1972, Blake moved to Vernal, Utah, with his mother, Lynda, and his two younger brothers. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1981 and spent a brief time studying at Utah State University before ultimately starting a three-decade career in the oil and gas industry. Through an act of divine grace, Blake met the love of his life, Julie Wilde (Lewin), in 1986. The couple was married that same year in Craig, Colorado, just prior to moving back to Vernal where they lived for more than 30 years.
An avid sportsman and outdoor enthusiast, he spent much of his spare time recreating in the mountains of Utah, Colorado and Wyoming. Some of his favorite memories were of long hikes to remote lakes and historical sites, elk hunting in the Uinta mountains, and fly fishing in his local waters. Blake also greatly enjoyed his time working on Stuntz Valley Ranch where he found camaraderie and laughter with his friends during a hard day’s work.
He was a man of tireless, abundant faith that guided his life and brought peace through to the end. He studied theology daily and strived to read the New Testament in the Koine Greek language. He was passionate about cultivating a spiritual life and sharing the word of God with all.
Blake was an exceptional son, brother, father and husband who will be greatly missed. He had a hilarious wit that put all those around him at ease even during his final days. “You have to laugh, or you’ll cry,” he often said. But his guidance, generosity and loyalty will be missed the most — he was always willing to lend an ear and loved to fellowship with his friends and family.
Blake is survived by his wife, Julie Wilde, and his son, Jackson Wilde (Katie); his brothers Ryan Wilde (Miles) and Darren Wilde; his mother, Lynda Johnson, and step-father, Lorin Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nile Aldon Wilde.
The family would like to thank the many friends who reached out to support Blake during his treatment. It was heartwarming to see how many people were impacted by Blake during his life and career.
Funeral services will be held on Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. at Anchor Bible Church, 6601 South 70th Street in Lincoln, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers, go outside and take a hike.
