Carole Hauf, age 86, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Memorial Community Care.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 6 at Cross of Christ Church in Aurora.   Pastor Tim Wells will officiate.   No Visitation. Memorials may be made in care of the family for future designation.   Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Carole Mardell Hauf, the daughter of Winifred Uttecht, was born in Norfolk, on August 2, 1939 and passed away in Aurora, on September 30, 2025, at the age of 86. 
Carole graduated from North Platte High School in 1958. She went on to graduate from Pierre School of Practical Nursing, South Dakota, 1960.   On February 25, 1962, she married Richard ‘Dick’ Hauf at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk.   They had four children: Lynn, Penny, Susan and David. 
In 1974, Carole and Dick moved the family to Aurora, where they owned D&J Auto Repair, along with Jimmy and Donna Hauf.   Carole was a school bus driver while her children attended Hampton Lutheran School.   She also worked at the Aurora Elementary School cafeteria, Hamilton Motor Inn and East Park Villa where she made lifelong friends.   Carole especially enjoyed working for John and Juanita Regier at the Bed & Breakfast and many catering events over the years. 
Carole was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton.   Carole was an avid crafter, and spent hours crocheting, card making and scrapbooking.   She also enjoyed thrifting and spending time with her children, grandchildren and family.   
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick (January 20, 2013); daughter, Penny; three sisters, Maxine Fisher, Lorraine Mitchell and Winnie Osbon; two brothers, Kenneth Barnhart and H. Duane Barnhart as well as several nieces and nephews. 
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Lynn Kraft of Aurora, Susan (Tom) Penner of Central City and David (Randi) Hauf of Aurora; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Delores Patocka of Norfolk, Mary Ann (Gary) Benson of Battle Creek; sister-in-law, Minerva Barnhart of Fort Belvoir, VA and many nieces and nephews.
