Kris Griffin, age 68, of Aurora, passed away on January 6, 2024 at her home.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 13 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate.   The service will be livestreamed on the church’s website. Please go to www.umcaurora.org, scroll down and click on livestream. Inurnment will be at a later date.  No Visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the family to designate at a later date.   Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.   Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.
Kris A. Griffin, the daughter of Burdell R. and Dorothy (Verner) Lange, was born in Aurora, on January 18, 1955 and passed away in Aurora, on January 6, 2024, at the age of 68.
She was raised near Aurora on the family farm, attended Aurora schools and graduated from Aurora High School in 1973. Kris attended Kearney State College for 3 years where she played softball and lettered all three years.
Kris and William ‘Griff’ Griffin were married on April 15, 1978 at the United Methodist Church. They had two sons: Geoff and Chase.   She worked as assistant manager at Pizza Hut, was a self-employed house cleaner and church custodian at the United Methodist Church for 20 years until retiring in 2022.
Kris was a member of the Morning Coffee Crew and volunteered at the United Methodist Church. She loved attending her granddaughter Peyton’s athletic and school events and her grandson, Jameson’s programs at preschool.   If anyone knew Kris, they knew her deep passion for being a Nebraska Volleyball fan.   Kris and Deb Miller refereed volleyball games for 20 years.  Kris stood by her family and friends.  She wanted things done her way – so she did it herself.   Kris loved bowling and had a high score of 298.   She was a bargain shopper and always stocked up!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burdell and Dorothy Lange; sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Royce ‘Jack’ Gustafson; brother-in-law, Ray A. Griffin, Jr. and in-laws, Ray A. and Frances Griffin.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 45 years, Griff of Aurora; two sons, Geoff R. Griffin and Chase R. Griffin, both of Aurora; granddaughter, Peyton R. Griffin of Aurora and grandson, Jameson F. Griffin of Aurora.   She is also survived by her two sisters, Connie (Mike) Hartman of Hastings and Judy (Darwin) Knecht of Wood River and two brothers, Roger Lange of Marquette and Randy Lange of Central City; sister-in-law, Sandy (Dan) Howland of Aurora and brother-in-law, Steve (Janet) Griffin of Grand Island, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
