June Hill, age 86, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, Dec. 22, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Rev. Mark Seiker will officiate. Interment will be in the Giltner Cemetery. Visitation hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1420 9th St., Aurora. The Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. at the church.   Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be determined at a later date. June Laurie Hill was born in Giltner, on Oct. 23, 1937, to Leonard and Bessie (Townsley) Most and passed away in Aurora on Dec. 22, 2023, at the age of 86.  
June grew up in Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School in 1954. Following her graduation she moved to Arizona where she worked as a bank teller before her marriage.
June was united in marriage to James Hill on Sept. 15, 1956 at Phoenix, Ariz. James was in the service and the family went with him to all his different assignments. In 1974 they moved to Wichita, Kan., and then moved to Giltner in 1982.   June worked for many years at the Giltner Public Schools as a custodian alongside her sister Jody.   June received her CNA at Central Community College and worked as a nurse’s aide in Grand Island. Jim passed away on Oct. 24, 2003. She moved to Aurora in 2005 where she has since resided. 
June was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora where she helped out as much as she could. She enjoyed Nebraska volleyball and football, watching old westerns and keeping up with grandchildren’s activities.  
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, JoAnna Bush, daughter-in-law, Cathy Hill, brother Leonard Most, Jr., and sister, Janet VanWormer.  
Those left to cherish her memory are two children, James C. Hill, Jr. of Kronenwetter, Wisc., and Rebecca Hill of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Brandon (Katie) Hill, Jenny Hill, Dylan Hill and Christina Hill; and two great-grandchildren, Lorelei and Liliana. She is also survived by her brother James (Angie) Most of Giltner, sister, Janice “Jody” Most of Aurora, brother-in-law, Jim VanWormer of Aurora, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
