Kathy Brandenburg, age 67, of Aurora, died Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at CHI St Francis Hospital in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Aurora Evangelical Free Church.  Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Kathy requested that everyone attending the service wear their favorite sports apparel.   Rev. Jim Garfield will officiate. Following the service a luncheon will be held at the church.   Interment will be in the Burke Cemetery near Central City, at 1:30 p.m.   Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.  Memorials may be made to the family. 
Kathy Brandenburg, the daughter of Stanley and Opal (Fuller) Chadwick, was born in Central City, on October 27, 1956 and died in Grand Island, on November 22, 2023, at the age of 67. Kathy grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1975.
Following high school she worked at Kates Rootbeer, and did daycare for many different families. Kathy also worked at Memorial Hospital in Aurora for approximately 20 years. She then went on to work at Aurora Schools for 10 years. Kathy then retired early due to health reasons.
Kathy was united in marriage to Alan Brandenburg on October 8, 1977, in Central City at the Central City Methodist Church. Kathy enjoyed being with family and friends, thrift shopping, playing Yahtzee, cards and cheering on the Huskers and Vikings football. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids. She loved traveling, especially to see her grandkids in their activities. Kathy was a friend to all and always had a positive outlook and smile to share.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alan Brandenburg; her parents Opal and Stanley Chadwick, brother-in-law Rodney Timmons, her mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Glenn Brandenburg.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: sons, Anthony Brandenburg of Aurora and Rick (Amy) Brandenburg of Hastings; daughter, Amber (Chris) Vargas of Lincoln; granddaughters, Haylee and Emily Brandenburg; grandsons Xavier and Bodhi Vargas; sister Linda (Jim) Dittmer of Columbus; brother Jerry (Pat) Chadwick of Aurora, sisters Sandy Timmons of Hordville, and Laura Chadwick of Marquette, and numerous other family members and friends that she considered her own.
