Growing up, Carsen Staehr always dreamed about being a college athlete. But, he never really saw himself as a track star.
Once he shattered Aurora’s triple jump record, things quickly started changing until his commitment to South Dakota’s track team made it official Feb. 22.
For Staehr, the opportunity to be a Coyote was too much to pass up.
“It’s pretty special. Growing up, one of the things I always wanted to do was play sports. I thought maybe football or basketball, but thankfully I’ve been blessed to have this opportunity in track and I’m excited to compete at the next level.”
The Aurora senior burst onto the track scene last season with some huge jumps, including a new school record in the triple jump in the first outdoor meet of the season.
