A hot start from Fullerton was too much for Hampton to overcome in the postseason opener.
The Hawks fell behind early and never quite got back within striking distance as the host Warriors defeated Hampton 56-39 in the semifinals of the D2-6 subdistrict tournament Feb. 21.
Hampton’s offense had a good start to the night.  Fullerton’s was just a bit better.
Wyatt and Brayden Dose scored all of Hampton’s first-quarter points, including eight from Wyatt, as the Hawks trailed 9-5 midway through the opening stanza.
W. Dose added five points, including a three-pointer, but Fullerton had opened up an 18-10 lead after the first eight minutes.
