After a wild first round win in the CRC tournament, the small in numbers HPC girls squad met its match in the quarterfinals.
High Plains couldn’t slow down a potent Meridian attack as the Mustangs defeated the Storm 52-22 in the CRC quarterfinals Jan. 24 at the York City Auditorium.
The Mustangs would eventually qualify for the CRC finals, losing in overtime to the girls champs of Shelby-Rising City in overtime, 35-34.
High Plains scored the first bucket of the night with an Allie Howell shot inside, but Meridian responded by scoring the next 12 points to lead 12-2 before a Peyton Hofmann shot seven minutes after Howells’s first shot made it 12-4 at the end of the first.
