Hampton’s boys basketball team has faced a different level of competition since the season began.
Two of its opponents have come from the D1 level and its third, Osceola Friday night, is still unbeaten.
The Hawks put up a fight and scored in bunches, but Osceola was just too much in a 64-47 win in Hampton Friday.
Coach Dalton Miller said that while the Hawks haven’t found the win column yet on the basketball floor, he believes these tough games against some of the best will help when the time comes.
“We have played very, very good teams,” he said. “It’s obviously tough to start out this way but it allows you to grow. We’re playing some young guys. We’ve got Wyatt Dose and Porter Dose who are getting great opportunities to develop in games. Last night I could see that we were making progress and that’s all we need to do right now. We’re still learning, and we’ll never stop learning. This is a great group of guys who I believe are eager to push every day to see a change in results.”
