    Throughout most of the 2021 track season, a couple events have become staples for the High Plains track team. For the most part, those events will be well represented by the Storm in Omaha this week. 
    HPC is sending four boys and one girl to this week’s state track meet at Omaha Burke with all of those chances looking good at possible medals. 
    High Plains coach John Kucera pointed out that while there were no surprise qualifiers this year, the Storm got in who they expected to. 
    “I’m sure all coaches say the same thing but our district was really tough this year, a lot of great kids putting up big numbers,” Kucera said. “Our athletes really competed well. We had a ton of PRs and that’s exactly how you want the season to end -- doing your best.”
    The Storm’s lone girls qualifier is no stranger to success or competing at the state track meet.
