In a bit more of a lighter pace, the Husky golf team competed in a home triangular with Grand Island Northwest and Hastings St. Cecilia at Poco Creek March 31.
Aurora’s varsity team was joined by its JV squad and a few others as nearly half of its team got a taste of high school competition.
There was a tie at the top of the leaderboard as Caden Svoboda and Cauy Walters each shot low nine-hole rounds of 39 on the day.
With a bit of a twist, the tee box on the long par-3 first hole was pushed back and to the left, making it a par-4 hole and the course a par-36 for the day.
The change made the first hole all the more interesting, needing to thread the ball and hook it around the treeline to the left without pushing the ball out of bounds to the right.
Aurora’s varsity team won the triangular with a 162 while GINW finished at 209 and Hastings St. Cecilia not far behind that at 209.
